The Cruising Committee, along with the assitance of member Peter Kelly, has arranged a very special Block Island Rendezvous on Saturday, July 25th. Mid-summer is the best time to visit the island as there are a myriad activities for members to enjoy including kyaking, parasailing, diving, bird watching and hiking along the island's famous nature trails.
There is limited motor vehicle access to many places on the island, but a bike or moped can easily transport you to all the islands best tourist spots, including the Old Harbor, The Sacred Labyrinth and the Great Salt Pond.
Members will gather at Smugglers Cove at 1800 for cocktails. A delicious Prime Rib and lobster dinner will follow at 1900. The charge for the rendezvous is $70 for adults and $35 for children, all inclusive. Plan to arrive early as dockage is limited and on a first come first served basis. Contact Payne's New Harbor Dock at (401) 466-5572 for more information. To make a reservation for this event contact sailing event coordinator Daniela Burton at burtond@nyyc.org.
