NY: Club Night: South Georgia Reunion

The members who went on the expedition to South Georgia on October 16-31, 2011 aboard the M/V Plancius will be delighted to share their experiences and photographs at a Club Night on Wednesday, February 29th. Commodore A. L. Loomis III has put together a program that recreates the sixteen-day expedition for all NYYC Guests and members. Located 1200 miles east of Cape Horn, in the Antarctic Convergence Zone, the beautiful wildlife sanctuary is the vital breeding ground for some of the greatest concentrations of wildlife on the planet.  In addition to seeing a photo presentation of their South Georgia visit, guest speaker Dr. Susan Avery, President of Woods Hole, who is a renowned specialist in ocean and atmospheric interaction and climate research, will also give a presentation.
