NY Club Night: A Taste of Barcelona w/ Jerry Kirby

The NY Events Committee is hosting a Club Night on Tuesday, March 30th entitled, A Taste of Barcelona in connection with the NY-BCN Transoceanic Sailing regatta. NYYC is a co-host of the event along with Real Club Nautico de Barcelona and Fundacio Navegacio Oceanica Barcelona which seeks to set a new speed record between New York to Barcelona as two teams aboard identical IMOCA open 60s compete from the start, Ambrose Light in New York Harbour between April  5-12, to the finish in Barcelona. 
 
NYYC’s own Jerry Kirby has agreed to be the emcee for this exciting evening and will introduce us to the IMOCA crew and hopefully  share some insight on transatlantic and transoceanic competition. NYYC sailors on the team are Stan Schreyer, coach of the Danish Olympic Sailing Team and former U.S. Sailing Team member.  On Team Estrella Damm with Alex Pella and Pepe Ribes; Peter Becker, a 15-time Bermuda Race veteran as well as an international moth sailor, on Team W Hotels sailing with Pachi Rievero and Antonio Piris; and Ed Cesare, 10-time Bermuda Race and two-time transatlantic race sailor, as alternate crewmember.
