NY: Safety-at-Sea Seminar

Back by popular demand, a U.S. Sailing Sanctioned Safety-at-Sea Seminar will take place in the Model Room on March 27th beginning at 0845. Hosted by Seamanship Committee Chair, CDR Charles H. Barber III, USN (Ret.) and moderated by Captain John Bonds, USN (Ret.), speakers will include: John Rousmaniere, Dr. Gino Bottino, George Petrides and former Commodore Lawrence Huntington.
Topics to be covered throughout the day include: boat and crew preparation for the Newport-Bermuda race, overboard prevention, first-aid, recovery, life rafts, at-sea medicine, heavy weather sailing, damage control and repair and Cost Guard rescue capabilities.
This seminar meets the requirement for the Newport-Bermuda Race (ie. required for two key crew members and 30% of total crew) and other U.S. races requiring training in safe seamanship.)
The charge for the seminar is $150 ($145 for U.S. Sailing members) including a box lunch. Reservations can be made on the NYYC website under Yacht Racing.
